Le lambeau deltoïdien proposé en 1984 par Augereau [pour réparer les grandes ruptures de la coiffe des rotateurs] utilise la portion acromiale antérieure du faisceau moyen du deltoïde. Sur le plan biologique, il permet de rétablir la synergie deltoïde - sus-épineux indispensable à l'élévation, et limite la composante subluxante du deltoïde en affaiblissant un peu son faisceau moyen
